We have the bug man spray regularly under the community squirrel porch, but it doesn’t seem to be working anymore. Is there any spray , as long as I only use it around the perimeter of the room ( on the OUTSIDE of the wire), and perhaps on the underside of the wood decking of the floor, that would be safe ? We use various fly repellents ( Lintox etc) for the horses; I was considering using one of those products? Doodles LOVES her big room and log house; but bless her, she’s floor bound. And the evil things make new trails into their room everyday, no matter how clean I keep it. It’s the food crumbs. But truly, I kee this room cleaner than my own house sometimes. And their food table ( for Dandies and Snickers, when she visits); I’ve got every edge of that thing lathered in Vaseline ( underside so their feet don’t get in it) and the ants still ( levitate????) to their daily rations . Doodles can’t take it, they bite!!

The only thing that has ever worked in my house is Terro Ant killer. It's basically sugar with borax in it and I mix it with peanut butter and shove it into every nook and cranny, under floor boards and even behind light switches on the side of the house they come in (places the animals can't get to) and in the cracks in the brick on the outside. I did it two years ago and just saw the first ant since then this week, so I'll be ordering and doing it again. It's inexpensive also.

Sounds like good stuff, thanks! We’ll look it up.

I also use Torro Borax ant killer. It really does kill ants and is very minimally toxic to mammals (most likly cause some GI distress if large amounts are eaten). It also will not build up in your system (not cumulative).

Still, I take some effort to place it in places that are hard to reach for squirrels!
