Seymour's mom

Seymour just wants to sleep today, he woke up this morning, are his 2 blocks then went back to bed. Not like him. He ran around for a brief period but that was because I trapped him in the bedroom with me to observe his behavior. He would run and pin ball off furniture but when I let him out he went to his bed again?

Hi Seymour's mom; I don't know if it is normal when more than one squirrel does the same thing, but just to ease your mind, my Trooper has done that just last Monday. he got out very drowsy, took a long time to get out of his cage to play or search & destroy everything (or pooing and marking everything I touch!):Cry and then got a treat from me, took it to his sleeping cube inside the cage and went to nap.
Of course, being "off character" for him, I got worried and checked his pee to see if his urinalisys was normal; it was. Checked if he ate his fresh veggies and blocks; he did. Looked at his poop for funny signs and even did a fecal flotation to see if he might have coccidia: nothing to be found.
The next time I saw him, when I got back from work, he was a dynamo:grin2
I believe, at least in my case with Trooper, that they get moody, sad, happy, tired, hurting, sick on their stomach, old pains, arthritis, arthrosis and possibly even headaches, just like humans and other mammals. They are off one day, and the next they are fine.
The thing is, as they are captives; we are somewhat responsible to watch out for signs and you are doing the right thing by asking.

How do you check their pee? Is this something I can get at a pet store? Can you explain the fecal flotation test? I did check his poop, it looked healthy, brown.
