Gibby's fur has been "shedding" or changing for about 2-3 months now and I'm starting to get worried. I have a friend who just lost her squirrel from MBD and his fur started changing at the beginning too. She said her squirrel's fur was more spikey whereas Gibby's is still smooth and soft. He has had high energy levels and is eating fine. He gets HH blocks and I just started him on calcium powder mixed in with his water. He also has access to a window which is right next to his enclosure. He spends most of his time out roaming the house while supervised where he can go up to any window he wants. Please see the pictures below and tell me if you think this is anything to be concerned about or if I'm just being paranoid. His fur on his lower back/butt has gotten thinner and shorter each day but is super soft. I would appreciate any and all feedback! I took a ton of pictures. He is my everything and I am extra extra careful so I just need some peace of mind if it's just normal shedding. I just don't know why it's lasting so long. Thank you.

Is he eating the HHB's? I'm assuming because you are feeding those to him that you are following the healthy food pyramid as well? It doesn't appear from the pictures that there are any bald spots. Does everything look okay with his skin? If yes to both of the diet questions then I'd say it's probably just him molting. I say this too because all of my three have been and still are molting.

If he's eating the HHB's I don't think you need to add any additional calcium. I've also seen people advise not to add anything like that to their water. I will usually give my guy half of a tums to nibble on once a week. He usually eats some of it, hides it, then eats a little more later. :grin2

Good to know, thank you. Why have you seen not to have it added to their water? It was recommended by my vet. Also, does it matter what kind of TUMS?

He is starting to get a bit of a bald spot on the very bottom part of his back but that's where he had one developing before when he was wild and had tapeworms. He just has very short/thin hair in that area is all. So you think it looks to just be molting still? Yes he eats his HH blocks every day.
