Can anyone identify this plant/ stem?is it okay

My husband was out and found these weird looking things and thought he would bring home for earl..lol so.. my immediate stance what is it? Can he eat it? I can't seem to find any info. Has anyone seen these before? Are they okay for him? He had a small one and tore it up. But I told my husband hold off until we know what it is.

Hold off until someone else in Florida can identify. That is a seed pod of some kind and MANY of them are poisonous. Never give anything that you are not 100% sure is okay. We almost lost a squirrel here at TSB a week or so ago from poisoning from a cycad seed (like the sago palm).
