We started her on 100% esbilac last night. Yellow watery diarrhea started within the last hour or two. Looks like her stool had a little blood in it this morning but I see none of that now. I’m guessing irritation? What can I do for the diarrhea? I’ve got FV on the way. Can I add something to her formula, give meds, or maybe sub in some goats milk formula? First baby I’ve had with diarrhea. Just want to be prepared in case this doesn’t firm back up on its own soon.

I’m at the store now. Any suggestions?

I've used children's Imodium with great success...doesn't stop what's causing the diarrhea....but takes care of the symptoms:thumbsup and you don't have to worry that much about overdosing...I just followed the directions of when to use...and just gave a drop at a time.
Also, a little rice baby cereal in the formula sometimes will help to firm it up.

I went ahead and got the ingredients for the goats milk formula and the Brac diet. I’m going to try that and see if that will straighten her tummy up. If not I’ll go back and get some children’s Imodium if I don’t already have some at home. Thank you!!
The Brac worked for Frances when she had diarrhea two falls ago. Love that stuff.

She’s had two Brac feedings and things appear like they are starting to firm up! :dance They are no longer watery but have turned green and are still a little loose. I think we’re heading in the right direction though.

I STILL cannot get this diarrhea stopped. Here's everything I've done so far.
Got her Friday night and after warming I rehydrated w/rehydration formula. 73 grams
Started with esbilac/water 25/75 then gradually moved up to full strength.
Sunday morning she had mushy stool with a little blood. By mid day she had watery diarrhea.
Got ingredients for GM formula and brac diet. Started that Sunday evening. Saw stool change from watery to mushy.
Wednesday I dropped the heavy cream from the GM formula but still doing the BRAC diet.
Wednesday evening started children's immodium after stool started getting watery again.
Thursday it's somewhere between watery and mushy. 93 grams
I ordered FV this weekend and it was supposed to be here yesterday but it's been delayed and should be arriving today. She is hydrated and I check for any signs of dehydration constantly. Last night I tried to switch back to rehydration only but she wouldn't take it. She's a strange eater. Sometimes she gobbles it up and sucks on it and others she chews the nipple. She rarely eats 7% but she did just under it this morning. I stopped her because I didn't want to push her too far and it be counter productive. What else can I do here? She's alert and active and if she wasn't pooping everywhere I'd have no idea that something was wrong.
I'm so glad she continues to gain weight. Poor little butt, diarrhea sucks.
Let's hope it's an irritation to the esbilac and the FV will firm her up.
How many doses of the immodium has she had? It seemed like it helped a little bit?
And does it smell bad or have funky mucus..in other words, are you concerned about coccidia/parasite or do you feel like it's a formula thing?
(When Frances had diarrhea and I used BRAC she also had yellow liquid with little threads of blood in her stool. I gave her diarrhea by losing count of my syringes and giving her an extra 3 cc of food. It took days to get under control.)

No smell. It's yellow and goes back and forth on the line of watery. Sometimes it's watery and sometimes it's just mushy enough to be considered not watery. Her very first poop was normal so I really believe it's irritation. I'm feeding her about every 4/4.5 hours....forgot to mention that. This morning was her third dose of immodium. She's due to eat in about 30 minutes so I'll see how the poop issue is then. Just want to prepare myself on any other steps I need to take in case the immodium doesn't help and neither does the addition of FV. I'm just not sure how long to see results after making a change.
And fortunately (IDK how) but her little butt isn't all red and inflamed from it.

Yes, no poop when there has been diarrhea is a good thing. It hopefully means that everything is not going strait through her now. Hope you are able to get the diarrhea stopped. I had two babies with awful diarrhea a couple of years ago and it was a nightmare. The BRAT diet really helped them, but I see that you've tried that. I also used Diastat when it still persisted and that also helped. My two ended up having parasites causing their diarrhea, but I hope your little one just has a sensitive tummy.:grouphug
Oh and I forgot to add, make sure since she's had such awful diarrhea that you keep her hydrated. I usually offer fluids in between feedings until I get the diarrhea under control.

I’m getting formed poops but there was a clear part of it? Should this be anything to be concerned about? The first one was all yellow and formed. This was the second one.
I got the FV in and did a 75/25 GMF/FV combo then used that to do the Brac formula for the most recent feeding. She only had the one dose of Imodium this morning and I haven’t given her anymore because things seem to be working back to normal. I don’t want to over correct the issue and get her stopped up. Lord, this diarrhea is no joke but I think I see the light.
Good morning poopy fan! I'm so glad they are formed today.
I can't really tell what I'm looking at but is it a little blob of clear mucus stuck to a turd? Mucus can be caused by constipation, diarrhea, illness, etc. But I wonder if the immodium stopped peristalsis and so his little body made mucus to help slide those poops out. I'll bet it decreases as he heals.
Poop--it rules our world, doesn't it?:grin2

Yeah it's mucous. I just don't know that I've ever seen it be just mucous v. mixed in? Of course I'm going off experience with human infants cause I've never had a squee with diarrhea. Just wanted to make sure it's nothing I should be worried about. She still has it a little this morning and I can't really call the poops firm but they are more solid than liquid so I think we are gaining some traction here. She hasn't had any more imodium since yesterday morning. I started to incorporated the FV into her formula last night and I haven't seen any negative impact on the poopies yet. I'm planning on going 24 hours between increasing the FV and decreasing the GMF. I'm not sure if I will keep to a 50/50 mix or work my way up to 100 FV. Guess that just depends on her tummy!
