Help!! My other squirrel is getting sick

Previously my baby squirrel was sick and is in the process of healing. Now my 8 months squirrel is getting sick too. He don’t have any clicking sound from his chest. He just keep making the PFT sound through his nose. Then I saw a little blood stain on the side of his nose. Should I be giving him medicine too? Baytril? He weight 3 pound

Yes. The vet told me his weight but won’t help save my squirrel because he said he don’t know anything about exotic pets .

Is there any chance that he had a fall? I don't know what illness your other had but snorting/chuffingsounds and blood in nostril is common after a fall. Do his teeth look alright?

If these symptoms resemble the illness that your other squirrel had than perhaps it was passed but otherwise I would be thinking about a fall (especially in an otherwise healthy 1400g squirrel). Which is huge!


Edit- I went back yo your other squirrel thread and see that these symptoms seem related which lowers the chance that it was a fall. They are not in pine enclosures or pine woood shavings? That can irritate their breathing and sinuses.

He is a little chubby squirrel. I’m surprise when the vet told me his weight. Anwyay, he didn’t have a fall. I have put the two squirrels in separate cages and not near one another. He is still acting ok. Just keep making PFT sound through his nose. This is the first time he is getting sick . He always strong and filled with energy

Doxycycline can be used to treat respiratory illness, acne, urinary tract infections, intestinal infections, STD's and gum disease, among other things. It's very common and usually inexpensive. Is there anyone you can ask (friends/family) to see if someone has some laying around?

A few people in some travel forums mention Boots or Watsons drug stores. I hope you can snag a couple of tabs.
