Yup. Where in the state will you be staying? Up here we have great big huge eastern gray squirrels, little red squirrels, and teeny flying squirrels that you likely will never see.

I am originally from the "formerly" free state of Vermont. In the so called "free 3" ME, NH & VT none are squirrel friendly. Just keep a low profile with your boy and you will be OK. Of the 3 Vermont is the worst and ME is the best. NH & VT have had a huge influx of rich from NY, NJ & MA who want to make it "just like where they came from". In VT we used to have town meetin' where the people decide issues as it should be, the newcomers want a town administrator to tell you how to live your life. Real Mainers are nice and welcoming except for the "outta statas" with money that have inundated the Southern Coast. We call em "flatlanders" in VT.
Enjoy Bangor - Cool town!
I am happy in Florida in the winter and Michigan (sometimes) in the summer...

You need to pay close attention to the route you take, especially crossing from one State into another when it comes to Interstate HWY, for some States have stop and check stations you would need to avoid entirely! Having a back up suppot in writing from your Veterinarian as to a clean bill of health for your pets, 'might' help in a pinch.

The only state I know of that has Aphis border checkpoint is California. A health certificate is good to have, I have 8 for all of mine - but I doubt they will help in an ownership prohibited state. Depends on the state as all are different. For example you can drive through MI, TN & IN as long as you have a health cert, to drive through GA you need a travel through permit in advance, and Kentucky it's an outright ban.
I would not sweat it as long as you are not the type of person likely to get pulled over. Just make sure your sqrl is not visible from an officers perspective.
