Young squirrel missing a tooth?

Quick question. One of my four month olds is missing ONE top tooth.

Everyone had all their teeth last week.

I can feel a nubbin under the skin and the gum looks pink and normal.

Should I assume she broke it off and just keep an eye on it? Does that happen?

Unfortunately, this has happened with other's. Your not alone...
It will grow back but you may need to trim the bottom incisor back a little so it don't
interfere as the top grows. Depending on it's length, you don't want it grinding the nub.

I'd also be cautious to try and figure how it could have happened, they don't just break off.
Too much "rough housing" between sibs, bar chewing is a big culprit, also falls / missed jumps.

Thanks Step! I would guess a missed jump. I saw a few recently (they are becoming dare devils) and now add quilts to the hard wood floors before play.

So lemme get this straight...without the top incisor, the matching bottom incisor can grow longer than the one next to it because it's not being worn down? Can't they wiggle their mandible around and use the one top incisor left to keep both bottom teeth in check until the other grows back? I will keep a close eye on things during daily face massages. Currently the bottom incisors are both normal length and perfectly even with one another.

I have experience trimming rabbit teeth, help if I need it and fortunately it's the docile one of the group.

Cava, here's little Coral, who needs trimmings ~ every 7 weeks.
As you can see her top left tooth turns back, therefore not allowing
her bottom left to match up. While they do wiggle their mandible around,
at least with Coral, it's not enough to keep it trimmed down. :(
This was taken the morning of her appointment to get them trimmed.

I've been massaging face and checking the teeth daily and noticed today that while the bottoms remain even and the same length as the other three squirrels, her ONE TOP TOOTH is shorter than everyone else's. I think it's doing the job of two front teeth and wearing faster.

Meanwhile, I see "something" happening in the empty socket like may be a tooth. Now it's a race against time. Hurry up new tooth before your sister tooth is worn down to nothing!

In other words--please don't make me trim bottom teeth!!
