Help! Kennel cough?

So I just adopted a puppy from the shelter and he has kennel cough. I know it’s highly contagious with other dogs and possibly cats, but can it be spread to my flying squirrel?? Thanks!

kennel cough is technically called bordatella, and I can believe it can be zoonotic -- spread to other species. :(

Yes... people can also get it from their pets.
