Since coming back to her senses, Snickers has been very busy in our back bath...
This is one of THREE emergency shelters she’s prepared for our ongoing Artic Blast that has settled in our region . She has graciously extended bathroom priveledges to The Hunny Bun. And to us. As long as we leave this particular door CLOSED, so as not to disrupt the delicate balance of her “fluff”. So glad she’s finally coming around 😊

About twenty ago we gave our girl some TP. which she grabbed and began to stuff into her blanket; so we gave her more of it. I discovered soon after that she had made a whole drey out of it, even put the lid on last. She was so pleased with her masterpieces; she tucked herself it in the squirrel curl position, all cozy and snug! Yet the next morning I noticed her eyelids were closed and she scratching to get them open. After some blotting with a lukewarm water compress they opened; yet i didn't immediately realize then that this was caused from the TP. When it happened again I did, and sad to say had to remove her grand opus to keep her eyes and body from dehydrating. Another squirrel we cared for made a drey out of a blanket forming into into a quasi igloo shape. It was so well constructed, tucked here and there, that it was actually hard to pull apart when I went to wash the blanket. As the saying goes, for squirrels that is, "You can take the squirrel out of the wild, but not the wild out of the squirrel.". And that is just fine, for we like them just as they are; they are truly fantastic creatures!
