Here are several views of pill & packaging. The pharmacist showed me the (1 g) marking on the foil wrapper, and said it is 1000mg or 1 gram . >>> It is a BIG caplet.
Please inspect photos and confirm.

Augmentin, Amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium 1000 mg manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) :great
GSK also has a large tab that's 1 gram 875 mg but if doc said it's the 1000mg I'd go with that.

JUST Curious---
Does the "split-line" on the white caplet mean it CAN be broken in half--and used accordingly ?

Yes. My understanding is that manufacturers don't add the split to drugs that may not be mixed evenly...

I assume you're talking about Clavamox. Yes, you can split the caplet on the score line. Of course the dosing would be based on 1/2 the total mg of the entire caplet.

DISCLAIMER. I was rudely 'called out' on FB about something I posted on TSB regarding pill splitting. Yes, non-members read TSB. :shakehead There are some that are ADAMANTLY opposed to it. To that I say... FINE don't do it BUT I will also say that there are insurance companies that are recommending it to their members to save money. They even will send a FREE pill splitter. I was one that received a pill splitter from my insurance company. Basically a 5mg pill costs the same as a 10mg pill SO splitting a larger mg pill will save 50% of the drug costs.

NOT ALL PILLS CAN BE SPLIT!!! Never split a pill that you're not sure of. Always consult with a pharmacist, physician or veterinarian. Timed release pills, irregular shaped pills and powder/bead filled capsules can NOT be split.
This post is merely to address this situation and should not be used as permission to
start splitting your Rx meds at home. :tilt

Stosh and Rosie.
I see that it was manufacturer in 8/2016. (I think that's what it means)
I see that it says your drug expires 8/2018.
I would suspect that this drug is good for at least another year,
so don't throw it away.

Read this post from HRT4SQRLS.
Just make sure they are stored correctly.

In part this is what she wrote.

I think it's safe to keep antibiotics 2-3 years beyond the expiration date with the exception of doxycycline/tetracycline. If you can find specific information from SLEP regarding a specific antibiotic, you can utilize this info. Keep in mind that the drugs stored in the stockpiles are stored under ideal conditions. Antibiotics that have the seal broken, the desiccant removed and are subjected to fluctuating humidity would probably not qualify for 'ideal storage'. I think most antibiotics in our home would be in this category so pushing the stability to the upper limits is unwise.
