I have a 23 week old (rough estimate) male fox squirrel that I acquired thanks to Hurricane Harvey. He was on the Esbilac puppy formula until 2 months ago (self weaned). I started him on the HHB for baby squirrels and then switched to the HHB for picky eaters which he loves but I noticed he seems to be loosing weight and has started with hair loss around the base of his tail. I had to reorder some HHB today and decided to switch back to the HHB for babies. Has anyone ever had this happen?
*he was gaining weight normally and had a beautiful shiny coat prior to switching to the picky eater kind*
His normal feed routine is
2 HHB morning
Carrot for mid morning snack
Mixed veggies for lunch (sweet potato, carrots, romaine, celery, squash, etc)
HHB is offered for dinner but usually not eaten
2 pecans or acorns as well as fruit for nighttime snack.
He doesn't eat all of his food throughout the day but finding fees him anything else until his morning HHB are eaten.
He is still very active and playful and doesn't show any signs of illness. I have checked his teeth and they appear to be perfect and aligned. The only thing I can think of that is causing weight loss would be switching to the picky eater formula.
