Hey guys, I'm having a bit of a freak out over this so bare with me, it might just be silly to worry. We just recently moved into a new home, and my 2 yr old gray squirrel is acting strange. She ran around in her cage the first day, ate and drank all her food. Today I came to check on her and shes been staying in the corner of the top of her cage. I took her out and let her run around the bathroom for around bit, and watched her. She pooped normal around and peed normal, but upon returning to her cage went back to the corner. Didn't want anything to eat. This squirrel is like a child to me and I'm freaking out bad. She seems totally okay otherwise, and I'm thinking it's just stress, but it's better to check with you guys I think.
Something someone on here helped me realize last year is that they can hear things we don''t even notice (same with smells). The move introduced her to sounds and odors that she will need time to navigate and feel at home with. I would continue to provide constants that weren't changed by the move such as cage set up, time with momma, same foods and routine. This will help her feel safe enough to explore. Moving is a shock for the most ready of us, I can't imagine how upside down it feels for a squirrel.
Is her cage in the same type of room? Living room, bedroom? Have you got the same furniture around her that she was used to at the old house?having these things with her might help her settle n better...

Her cage is the same, made sure to put all her stuff in the same spots, she has her lamby, (a lil lamb toy she adores), and it's in a very similar room, the only thing missing would be couches.

I agree with the others that this is probably a stress induced behavior that you're seeing BUT I always like to inquire about the diet. The diet of a captive squirrel is by far the most important issue to be addressed. If the diet is good, most medical concerns can be eliminated right away. If the diet is bad, a stressful thing like a move can snowball into a life threatening matter. Can you give us a run down of the diet?
Welcome!

She gets her rat blocks in the morning, along with a mixture of dried fruits, and veggies. She also gets fresh fruits and veggies throughout the day, then more rat blocks at night. She even rings her bell toy for treats (she's a bit of a food hog!) I do give some nuts as well, pecans, walnuts, etc.

Just wanted to give you guys an update! She seemed fine after this morning, and took some treats from me and ate her normal food. I think I was just stressed from the move myself and was really worried about her! Thank you guys so much for the fast replies, it really helped a lot. So thankful for this board! ❤
