*BUMP!*:poke lol. every time i make a new post it stops getting replies after a couple days. no hard feeling thou, because i can spam with help questions lol :). Ace is a 4 year old SFS who has had a bald belly for about 2 years and 8 or so months ago lost it on his sides. he has plenty of toys and play time, and his diet is just right. veggies with a little fruit and HHP picky eater blocks, meat (boiled eggs, chicken if we have it, mealworms, waxworms, etc. Are wild moths safe btw?) other than his fur loss, he is perfectly happy. he will start to grow fur on his belly really good, and then will loose it. I'm 99% sure that he picks it out, because sometimes ill see him picking at it and sometimes there is a little bit in his pouch or nest box. help??

I'm just going to throw this out there...it may be way off base. I have ferrets who would live in burrows in the wild so domestic ferrets need a black out space to sleep during the day. They wake up and play at dusk and dawn. If I launder or take the thick blanket off the top portion of their cage my female will start losing fur from the tail up into the abdomen and back. Once they have a dark space (or darker space even) the hair grows back. I learned this a couple of summers ago and never have the top portion of their cage uncovered during daylight. It's open at night.

I have no idea if a nocturnal animal would react the same way but if he doesn't have a place to get complete darkness during the day, could this happen to SFS's?

That's all I have to offer, hope you get some answers!

Floppy do you have the number? Maybe parents would be ok with the call if you put the phone on speaker and let them listen in...its worth asking.
