So he got fixed yesterday morning and this morning he's not active like normal. He'll eat and drink but then goes right back to bed. Does anyone know if this is normal? I'm worried

Just guessing that it may be the "after effects" from the anesthesia.

He may be sore, too. A friend had a bunny done and it took him several days to get back to normal.

I think the trauma of surgery, pain and residual anesthesia will have him hunkered down for a couple of days, for sure.

Sammy was back to his normal self in about three days but he had another surgery done at the same time. Hope he feels better soon!

He came out of his backpack ate a squirrel block and went to his above the cabinet drey, he's still there. He just ate a blueberry I offered. I can't wait till he's back to normal

were you given any pain meds? if he's in discomfort, wouldn't it be advisable? or if he's on something, increasing the dosage?

I just hate to think of animals feeling any physical pain after these procedures.

I'm taking him back to the vet just to be safe . I got him out of his nest and he ate again but keeps scratching alot and I think licking his incision,I can't tell if he's licking or biting. He doesn't normally scratch like this ugh!!!

Our boy who was spayed continued not to heal, so I took him back to the vet who told me how to keep it clean and support healing. After about two weeks it still hadn't healed, but then the end of the stitch came out; so I gently tested to see if was loose and just a bit longer than a 1/4 inch piece easily slide out. After that it healed up in just a few days. Clearly he was allergic to the stitching that impeded his healing.

I'm not in suggesting in sharing this that you pull on his stitches, no; just ask your vet about the issue of allergy, and how to keep it clean till it heals, and tell him what happened to our boy so he knows allergy can be an issue with tree squirrels.

With our girl's operation to remove one of her toes that had developed a cancerous tumor, she initally left it alone; yet once it began to heal and get itchy she ripped it right out. Thankfully by then it was sufficiently healed. Possible cone might help. Try Rescue remedy on a Cue tip on the outer ear on the inside surface.
