Emma has been in her new cage for about 5 days. We built a nest box for her and she uses it to hide in throughout the day, but has not yet built a nest. Instead, she built her nest on a shelf under some fleece material. How can I promote her to build in the box? I was hoping to wash the fleece once a week or so, but don't want to continuously take apart her nest.

Put some kleenex, paper towels, or napkins partially in the nest box with some sticking out.
Leave some out and scattered around for her to take to the box as well.
That may encourage Emma to start building in there.

Here's a short video of Jeffrey taking Kleenex from the back of the toilet and
making his nest under the sink. :)

Thank you, Nancy. Jeffrey is cute. I'll give it a try and see what she does.
