I'm VERY new to this, but thought I should comment regarding a cage, and how important it is to set up ASAP. For anyone that has not read any of my other posts regarding Emma, or sweet little red squirrel, I'll do a quick recap.

We found Emma sitting at my sliding glass door on a cool day when it was raining. We took her in and began to care for her (she was perhaps 5-6 weeks old at that time). She was so sweet, and kind of just chillin' out. She would sit on my knee a good part of the day, and go into her open cage to sleep. I left that cage open as she didn't do much except sleep and sit on my knee when I worked (we kept her in my home office). I never bothered to cage her, even at night, as she was so well behaved (didn't try chewing anything). Fast forward to only a few days ago...she was like Taz from the Looney Toons, LOL. She's still VERY sweet, but HOLY SMOKES, it was very difficult to work with her in my office. She liked to play a lot. She began exploring chewing. I had to cover stuff, block stuff, hide stuff. She still managed to get to some of my wires, but only chewed the outer sheathing. My point of this post, don't wait so long as I did to build, or buy a cage. I have been a nervous wreck for a few days, until we finally got her cage completed. Finally, I have my office back and don't have to worry about keeping a constant eye on that sweet little squirrel, WHEW!

The cage she slept in was about 1.5' x 1.5' x 1.5', so I didn't feel good about locking her in after she was free to move around in my office for about 3 weeks. Emma is 8-9 weeks old at the completion of the larger cage 3' x 4' x 6'. Realized I didn't make these points for anyone curious about when she became so active. My next project is to modify the room the cage is in for out of the cage play time.
