I bought a bird toy to put in my babies cage so they could play with it. They play on it and with it but recently one of them like to chew on the wooden blocks that are on it. But he gets little pieces of the wood and it looks like he is eating the actual wood even though there are pieces of it everywhere like he’s just taking it apart should I be worried??? I’ve taken the toy out since I noticed that but they liked playing on it so much. It has other stuff on the toy should I just take the wood off??
It's normal for them to shred wood like that. If the toy is safe for a bird, it's okay for them to chew on and it sounds like they are enjoying themselves!
IMO, plain untreated wood toys are fine. Painted ones however should not be used because of chemicals used to produce paint.
Lynn may be right. I searched and cannot find proof that the dye used in bird toys is non-toxic, although you'd think it is. Looks like most folks make their own for their birds on the forums I read.

As long as the company is on the up and up, the dyes used on bird products / toys are non toxic and FDA approved.
