So three little guys, well two guys and a girl fell out of the tree I waited for mama to come back but she didn't and my dogs tried to get them so I had to grab them. One is bleeding from its mouth I'm not sure if it's from my dog nipping it or if it's from the fall. How old do they look and how much esbilac should i be feeding them?

You should get them hydrated first and when you do begin Esbilac, make it more dilute first and slowly go up to regular strength. Many babies have had trouble with cement gut and bloat this year (I lost one) with it.

Once they are hydrated feed 5-7% of their body weight in grams. (wt 52 g x .05 = 2.6 ml...for example.)

Check this out, lots of important information: https://www.henryspets.com/baby-squirrel-care/

Info on hydration can be found in more detail there. They need a heating pad, away from the dog behind a closed door, up high. They are very adorable.

You need a weight on these little ones, in grams, to feed the correct amount.
Typically it's 5-7% of their body weight every 3-4 hours.
Hard to tell the age, but I would guess 2 weeks.
What kind of esbilac are you using? Make sure it's the DRY powdered puppy formula pictured below.

Is this your first tiime raising squirrels?
Would you want us to try to find someone in your area to help you?

Here's a great link about baby squirrel care.
It's 6 pages long with the next button at the top right corner.

Also make sure there is no way the dog can get to these little ones.
We have seen way too many accidents on here where dogs and squirrels
are involved. :(

Edit: I see that cava beat me again. Damn that girl is fast. :)
She gave you excellent advice. :woot

Hey, ones making a click noise and I know that means like pneumonia I haven't fed him yet he did have a little blood could it be in his nose?

Try to listen to face v lungs. It could be nose, or it could be aspirated blood. Poor thing. Thankfully they heal quickly. Go slow during feeding, or drop by drop, since he can't use his snoot right now.

Is he clicking with every breath? If so, I would say he could have pneumonia. Do you have any antibiotics in case? Just one pill of Baytril, Cipro, or Clavamox would do. If not, ask around to friends and family to see if you can find some. We will need an accurate weight on the little one to properly dose. Like cava said, put your ear up to him and see if it sounds like the clicking is coming more from his nose or his chest. If he bumped his little nose, what you are hearing could be from that, but it's good to have antibiotics on hand so you can treat him quickly if it does turn out to be pneumonia.

He's got it all in his nose I'm trying to suck it out and save him but he's barely hanging on. There's a lot of blood in his nose

Your gonna need PAIN MEDS.

LR

I don't know anything about PAIN MEDS but I can bump your thread again...do you have a scale to weigh him on? Infant ibuprofen ? Any type of prescription PAIN MEDS? Some one can help you dose them if you can get a weight or post a picture so they can "guesstimate" it.

I think you probably had your scale on ounces. That would equal right at 90 grams.

That's a chunky monkey weight. Do you have a 1cc syringe?

Step I'm glad you showed up. The pictures and the weights weren't looking right...ive never had a newborn but I know that a thumb nail size ball of bread dough weighs 10g.

I was looking up charts on weights though, two week old should run 60 grams? 90 gram pictures didnt correspond to picture she posted.

Still at square one, we need a correct weight.
Maybe she can post a picture of baby on scale and we can
figure out how she's reading / using it. :dono

They are like 1\4 the size of my hand very very tiny. The scale is on grams they are soooo little I've never seen one so small. The one with blood didn't make it through the night :( I'll post a picture of them on a scale later

Doesn't sound like squirrels, day old pinkies aren't in the single digits, sounds like Oppossums or mice.

Last night I think I was able to see the picture put in the first post but I can't now. In the picture they looked like squirrels to me, maybe about two weeks old. Sometimes if the batteries in scale are weak they won't read right. Maybe that's the issue? :dono

Sorry to see that one of your babies didn't make it. :grouphug

I saw the photo as well, and estimated the squirrels at about 2 weeks too.

They look exactly like this size and all. I used my neighbors scale so I'll have to ask when they're up..

I didn’t see any pix I was going on the 3gram comment. But, if they look like these pinkies then yup Squees 😄. Are you feeding them ever 2 hours?

cava

Until you get the scale and once they are fully hydrated begin diluted formula if you haven't already. I was feeding the babies in the photo 1.5-2 ml every 3-3.5 hours if the milk line was empty and they weren't bloated and they were peeing and pooping. (Start at 0.75 ml first feeding, go up from there)

Be sure to check bellies before each feeding. For dilution start with half formula-half water. Once they are on that for a day and if poops are still happening when you stimulate at each feeding, go up to 3/4 formula and 1/4 water for a handful of feedings and if poops are still normal and plenty, go up to full strength. If one of them stops pooping and has a large bloated belly you will have to switch to a different formula combo that includes goat's milk. You will also have to stop feeding and begin a different protocol to get baby moving again. Pinkies aren't doing well on just Esbilac.

If you want to be safe, you can feed what I did, which was 1/4 commercial formula (esbilac or fox valley, or a mix of the two) and 3/4 goat's milk formula (you make this at home.) When I tried to go to a 50:50 of the two, they stopped pooping so they stayed on this until eyes opened.

Goat's milk formula:

3 parts Goat's milk (fresh, powdered or concentrated made into milk first)
1 part heavy whipping cream (not half and half)
1 part full fat vanilla yogurt (I used yobaby)

I'm sure you remember but potty them at every feeding. Stools will be brown at first and change to yellow once on formula.
