I recently released my 15 week old squirrel who weaned herself from formula at around 10 weeks but was eating HHB pretty good. She wanted to go once she got in the release cage. However, she does hang around and has discovered and uses the nest boxes that I put up for her. She comes everyday for food but has given up on all healthy stuff including block. To supplement calcium, I have tried coating various healthy items but she now refuses those as well. I see her chowing down on all the nuts and seeds from the trees and I am really worried about MBD. Any thoughts or suggestions?

If she's in the wild you don't need to worry about it so much. She is now able to eat all of the things that are natural for a squirrel. Unless you are giving her a crap load of nuts throughout the day (in which case, she probably wouldn't eat much else) MBD isn't as concerning as it is for indoor squirrels. The block does it's best to provide the essentials needed for growth, etc, but living on their natural diet is preferred.

Many wild squirrels won't eat the blocks, some will. If you want her to eat them, don't give her any nuts or seeds. Just like she was indoors, she gets her block and after that she can have a treat.
