Hello. By going through the threads on Friday, I have deduced that one of my squirrels seems to have mites, the sarcoptic mange mites to be precise. Also, it appears to be a case of having a vet prescribe ivermectin for her. Is that the only option to ridding her of these vermin?

Hi Gamma, is it?
How do I order from Chris? I have two southern flying squirrels, Baby and Chubs. They're both female. It is Baby who is infested by the mites. I believe that Darwin's theory is what has kept her with us, despite these pests.
My girls are 6 years old. My daughter purchased them in 2001, as babies ~ not from the same litter. They were a month apart. The girls are on a diet of nuts, seeds, varied fruits and vegs. I put calcium in their water every day. And aside from the pestilence irritating Baby, I've been blessed with no other problems.
They are inquisitive, but live in a household with 3 cats, who are mesmerized by them, but that is about it.

Thank you for the information! I ordered from Chris. Hopefully, it won't get tied up at the border.
May I ask what Full Spectrum Lights are?
I find it difficult to believe that I've been "momma" to a couple of squirrels for so long. Aside from a family dog, and a cat when I was in my late teens until thirties, I had never owned anything else. And I feel so bad that it took me so long to realize what was wrong with Baby. However, it wasn't until my daughter called after having a dream about Baby succumbing to whatever was ailing her that I searched the net again, looking for an answer. It was the thread about "mange," which set me straight where I read about someone else using neosporin on their own flyer and the tail not healing. Thank god that I found you! This will only bode well for the girls.
I am somewhat dimwitted when it comes to my animals because I think of them as almost alien-like in nature. It was like that when one of our cats was diagnosed with asthma. I was totally dumbfounded.
You know for someone with an iq of 135, I really can't come up :shakehead with an excuse for my lack of intelligence sometimes. {I'm :poke fun at myself! It is something that has got to be done to keep me in line.}
Again, I want to thank all of you, for the information!:thankyou :thumbsup
