My fur baby is always itching and scratching for the past 2-3 weeks. I gave her a dawn bath and I didn't see much of if any improvement. How can I tell whether she possibly has mites? what are some different mite treatments? and if no mites, possible allergies maybe? :thinking She's also had a VERY MINOR runny nose for the past week, I've been leaving the window open when its been extremely windy outside. This is why I've begun to suspect allergies and have kept the window closed.

I would clean out her entire enclosure as well.

I've never had a squirrel with mites but from what I've read and learned a long time ao from the dogs I've had unless you are checking the inside of their ears pretty often the first place you're likely to notice mites is on the edge of the ears. Some one on the board described it as "crispy looking"

If you purchase flea protection drops that say it also kills mites, make sure you get a version that is made specifically for kittens...depending on the weight of your squirrel put just one or two drops from the vial (Not All Of It!) On the center back of her neck. Make sure it is on her skin and not on top of her fur.

Be very careful using medicated pest treatments designed for larger animals like cats and dogs. Some of theses can be VERY toxic and even deadly if the dose is too large for a squirrel.

I have successfully used 1.87% Ivermectin Paste orally, and others use it topically. You can get it on Amazon. If you decide to go this route, please check back her for EXACT dosing instructions as too much Ivermectin will lead to seizures and death. Other here might recommend Revolution (safer) but you may need a vet to get this medication.
