How long after weanin does a moms nipples stay prominent? They weren’t swollen and full looking but they were dark and prominent. Maybe that’s normal for a female even after weaning? I should have taken a picture but I was so shocked and horrified, I just wanted to get her up and moved. My dogs have never caught a squirrel. They run after them but have never tried, that I’ve seen, to actually catch one. I’m so upset and just horrified that this happened.
But with how weird the Michigan weather has been, and all the babies I’ve seen in the last month or so, um worried she may have had babies? I don’t I’ll be listening and checking the yard carefully for the next few days. The only trees with nests have the nests well over 40 feet up and I couldn’t possibly get to them to check. I know the baby cry sound at least.
There has been some serious bullying between squirrels with Lola now living in the tree in a nest box. I’m so thankful t wasn’t her that was dead. I don’t think I could look at my dogs again. But it sucks regardless. Poor squirrel. I’m sorry, little mama!!!
