Ok.... TJ Remmy is great.... her cage smells horrendous. I clean it and keep fresh flannel in there but whew. Is that normal? I feed her 50/50 Ebs and FV 20/50. Her eating habit is weird. Was pretty clock work... now I get up in morn she ate 10cc. Around noon I tried and she may drink 3-6cc (all the while chewing on HHBlocks) and if I hold out later in the evening its usually back to 10cc. Very Playful. Sleeps a good bit still but more active. How old is she really? I thought and guessed 5 weeks when I first got her...

Yeah, formula pee is bad. It does get a little better as they get older. All I can offer is to cover everything with stuff that can be washed. And do that daily.

When you got her were her eyes open?
They look it in your first pictures, but you posted a weight of 54 grams,
which is SO tiny for an eyes opened baby.
They typically open at 5 weeks.
So you got her 3 weeks ago, so we KNOW that she is at least 8 weeks old now.
What is her weight now?
What kind of container do you have her in.
When they are still on formula (which we always encourage to keep them on as long
as they want it it's the best insurance against MBD) their pee is stinky.
Many of us use Carefresh bedding.
All of my cages have a wire shelf over where the bedding/litter goes so they
aren't walking in their litter.
I too LOVE and use fleece all of the time, but it holds the pee smell.
That's why I love cages with a shelf over the litter, they can have their
fleece and leave a corner for them to use as the bathroom. Many also
supply them with a litter box, which works out well for them.
That video is just priceless. Not sure who's having a better time. :rolf :w00t

295158Shes in a travel cage on the bus right now. Her big cage at home is like you said. I line it with newspaper so I can dispose of it. She weighs 150 grams. Pretty healthy Queen.
PS- just disposed of newspaper. Definitely newspaper. Picture with my Uncle

OK if she has contact with the newspaper, the ink can be toxic to squirrels.
Let me go find the link.
I think your uncle is pretty smitten with TJ! :hug
Go to this link, where they talk about newspapers in the cages.

The odor of pee-soaked newspaper is, to me, the worst smell of all in habitat situations. I never use it. However at my job, at a nature center, we are forced to use it for some of our animals because our budget doesn't allow for truckloads of Carefresh every week :( . The smell is awful. Try the Carefresh, or a store brand of the same thing. Big diff!
