Our two new baby flyers are already starting the picky attitudes- leaving their Hi Protein Henry's dried out and uneaten every day... For my greys, if the blocks are clean and dry, I freeze them for future use in recipes. Are the recipes here on this forum ok for the flyers as well? Any special concoctions folks here have tried, that are a hit for weaning baby southern flyers?

I grind my dried up HHBs, mix with a bit of full fat vanilla yogurt and a dab of almond butter to the consistency of cookie dough. I pat these down and bake at about 250 until they just begin to firm up. These I break into pieces and roll into little balls for my flyer. It is the only way the little %&$! will eat his blocks!

Perfect! Thanks, I can tell already these are picky little boogers, and hate to waste their HHB's... If you can get them to eat the blocks, in some form or another , is that sufficient for their needs? Or do they need the calcium powder?

If they are eating their HHBs, even if you have to gussy them up this way, he will be fine. You should use the calcium powder to dust on his mealworms and waxworms though -they do need the additional protein from their "bugs" and they LOVE them but they are very high in phosphorus, and the calcium dusted on them helps to regulate that.

Ok, sounds like we need to make a trip to Pet Smart, can't get those at Kroger... ( yuk!)

Rainbow Worms has good waxies and mealworms and they are safer and cheaper then the store bought ones.

Ok! Sounds fun! Worm shopping, here we go! :) My nine yr old will have to prepare the powder dusted worms, however....

My greys eat best when room service drops off
their bowls right at the butt crack of dawn.
Now my flyers eat best when dinner is served
right as the sun goes down. Earlier in the
winter and much later in the summer.
I've found that sticking to their natural feeding
schedules makes for better eaters.

Ok, sounds like we need to hire a night shift and a day shift staff lol! They're a lot of work...but actually a stress relief for me, my therapy animals it seems. My husband is beginning to question my grocery lists, and weird things baking these days lol... Not to long ago, a swarm of teen boys ravaged our kitchen, and dove in a fresh from the oven pan of baked version of boo balls! That boy will think twice next time he digs in🤣
