Hi, I have 2 squirrels that are 13-14 weeks old. During the day it is about 15 degrees centigrate and during the night it can get to freezing temperatures, however the usual is 4 degrees centigrate. I intend on releasing them on wednesday since the forecast is looking good (18 centigrate during day, 10 during night). So my question is: Is it a good time to release them or is it too late?

It's advisable to release at no younger than 16 weeks. They should be in their release cage for a few weeks after that. At this point they would have nothing stored (food). Can you overwinter them and release them in the Spring?

If not, may be a rehabber near you can take them.
