Hi, so my main question is whether it is ok for me to use a drop of the repellant I use for my dogs on squirrels. I see posts about kitten repellant being safe but can't find anything saying absolutely no to the liquid dog type. I have citrus oil that I have tried with no luck. My concern is that I will be oveewintering one squirrel and semi soft released my other girl Lola. Well, Lola still likes to come sit on me and has run in the house since she has been 'free' and my other little one is going to start spending a few hours in the outdoor cage this week. Lola started scratching almost as soon as she was ourside. And I saw at least one flea on her but she's a snit and wouldn't let me get it off. I have picked them off of me even. But now my dogs, who I've never had a flea issue with, are itching and I have found two fleas. I can't let an infestation start. We have three dogs and it would be a disaster. I know it's normal for squirrels to have then and treating them would be unnatural since they are soon to be freely roaming but I need to keep it under control for now. Can I use my dog stuff or do I need to get kitten stuff? Oils haven't worked and I won't be able to easily spray the vinegar solution as often as will be needed. Thanks everyone! (I still haven't gotten my phone screen fixed but I have a gazillion pics to share when I do)

You'll need to be specific about what you use for your dogs?

Revolution (Selamectin), which is availble for both dogs and cats, can be used with squirrels. But you must use one tiny drop and not the entire "single dose tube" even if it is the small kitten version. There are several sizes and concentrations... the cat / kitten (and puppy smaller dogs) version is (60MG per 1ML)... once you get into the larger dogs the concentration increases so we avoid those.

Let me also assure you that fleas that infest dogs and cats (jumpers) are not the same fleas that infest squirrels (swimmers), so there is no danger of the squirrels infesting the dogs or vice versa.

That's what I was reading, that they are different fleas that love on them. But then I also saw that they can be carried from one to another. And can even bite the opposite animal. Sorry, I should have added the types in my original posts. I have two different kinds. I buy them when they go on clearance because of package changes (Yeah I'm cheap but they're not expired. It's literally just new packaging. Sometimes end of the season.) I buy any doses available and use my judgement if it's the larger size for a larger dog. I usually split a medium one for my Boston terrier and a full one for our pit mix. Currently I have Spot On and Sentry. They both say not to use on cats. Is there a specific ingredient that I should be watching for?

Revolution (Selamectin), my vet uses Frontline (Fipronil)
When you consider this stuff absorbs into their small bodies and blood stream for
a squirrel it should always be stated for puppies and kittens and only 1-2 small drops.
If you can not use it on a cat do not use it on a squirrel! Squirrels like cats are groomers.

Ok thanks. I'll get some when I head to the pet store. :)
