Bloating and diarrhea together?? That don't sound right...
What type Esbilac are you feeding? Is it like pictured below?
Please post a picture of this baby.

How much does your baby weigh? A baby is fed 5-7% of his weight in cc's ( mL is same measure ). Also, the number # 1 cause of diarrhea in baby squirrels is OVERFEEDING. Baby squirrels often act like they are starving at a certain age.

Overfeeding could definitely be causing the diarrhea. If you don't know what your baby weighs you will have no idea how much to feed.

If you can post a picture we could better help you.

So, just stop over feeding?

Do you have a scale to weigh her on? Gram weight would be easiest but ounces can easily be converted.

The photo of the formula is unclear, is that the liquid esbilac?
IF so we DO NOT recommend that, and this is the cause for your babies bloating and diarrhea.
You need the one shown in post #2 of this thread.

So, just stop over feeding?

How much is she taking at each feeding? How often are you feeding?
We don't know if you are overfeeding, it could be a cause for diarrhea.
I suspect it's the formula since it appears you have the liquid esbilac.

I'll have a postal scale first thing in the morning. So switch to powdered formula?

Yes, but it HAS to be the one pictured in post #2. No substitues.
How much is she taking now at each feeding, and
how often are you feeding?
Are you feeding the liquid Esbilac? I assume so.
BUT a real important question, are you diluting it?
THAT IS (diluting it) what caused the deaths of the other babies. The
person was diluting LIQUID Esbilac with 2 parts water, and
hydrating them in between.

Get a scale that weighs in grams.
Something like this:

Yes, get a weight and new formula asap. That baby will become very sick on the liquid Esbilac. Buy it first thing tomorrow. Let us know the weight and we'll get you feeding the appropriate amount.

Are you feeding with a syringe and nipple? What size syringe?

Also, read the pages on this site regarding baby squirrel care. It discusses proper housing, feeding techniques, common problems etc. https://www.henryspets.com/baby-squirrel-care/

Please make necessary changes as needed. You'll have much greater success, a healthier baby and less stress if you are doing things correctly. Thanks for the photo. Keep them coming!:Love_Icon

Hi Mina, I can't tell if the formula is the powdered kind you mix with water or the kind that is already liquid.

Also, we don't know how much she weighs so we don't know how much to feed her. You could be under feeding for all we know. I don't want to tell you not to feed so much because you may not be feeding enough. We don't want to starve her but OVERFEEDING is bad too.. A scale is a must. You can buy a kitchen scale at Walmart, Target, or a kitchen store like Bed Bath and Beyond. Get one that weighs in grams or ounces and we can convert to grams.

A scale is the only good way to judge if your baby is growing properly or if she is being fed enough or too much. As you can see you really really really need a scale! To judge growth we weigh a baby everyday. We adjust feeding amounts every morning based on weight.

If you are using the powdered Esbilac be sure to mix it up ahead of time with hot water and let it sit in the refrigerator for several hours so the powder completely dissolves. Wisk it every couple of hours. Not mixing the formula correctly can cause diarrhea too. If you are feeding the already liquid Esbilac then switch ASAP. We have had 5 babies on this board last week die due to malnutrition and starvation on liquid Esbilac because the liquid does not supply the proper nutrition for a baby to live. If you are using the liquid Esbilac in the can that would definitely cause diarrhea!!!!!!

What are you feeding with ? We recommend a 1 cc or 3 cc syringe with a Miracle nipple or silicone nipple on it.

Please ask all the questions you need to ask. We will help you with your questions.

Your baby is adorable. :Love_Icon Precious little baby! :Love_Icon

First of all thank you thank you thank you for all your help. I am definitely receptive to any new ideas that will help my babies. The little girl I wrote you about Milo is 140 G I do use an eyedropper it holds to milliliters she's been eating about for every 4 hours daytime. The bloating went down this morning and I got the esbilac you suggested and she appears to be doing much better.

I didn't mention it and I'm a little embarrassed to admit it but I've been rehabbing for about 30 years on and off. But I'm always willing to learn new things. I currently have seven babies th
at I'm taking care of little Milo is the youngest. I read all the pages that you guys gave me thank you. I have questions about the what was it called Fox something 2050?

I have lots of questions but perhaps this emergency thread is not the right place? Again can't thank you enough!!! Y'all are awesome!
