If a squirrel has a ear infection what kind of medicine would you use ?????? If a squirrel had ear mites what would you use ????? I.m going to contact my vet and give him this information about my squirrel....thank you

Hi there. The medication would depend on what kind of infection it is: bacterial, yeast, ect? Ear mites require a different type of med still. Why did you suspect ear infection? Can you post photo?

How old is this one? What's the history?

If you aren't licensed to rehab be sure you are speaking to squirrel friendly vet.

If you aren't licensed to rehab be sure you are speaking to squirrel friendly vet.....l have taken him to a vet just last week because his eye was watery he dod crsys of his head and body no problems with that...bit i asked the vet to check his ear he ssid he did ...said no problems...but when i clean his ear i get a dirty looking swab or if i touch the insude of his ear with my finger and he smells my finger or swab be starts to chitter and chatter and jump all over my hand....the vet told me who is a wildlife vet tolld me if i brought in a dirty swab he would look at it. So for his and my infor.mation i was just wondering what you would suggest...and i thought maybe he got watet in his ears from a bath a long time ago and its just now acting up ..thank you

I'm glad he's a good vet willing to help. I would take a swab into him so he can do an ear cytology. It's the best way to be sure you are treating with the appropriate medication.

(I was a vet tech so I get what you're saying about water in the ears causing yeast infection, or something. But to be sure, I'd have it checked.)
