My flyer has been doing great all week long. I feed Esbilac., he is about 5 weeks old., he started getting diarrhea really bad so I started playing around with the formula and diluted it to 3:1. He was eating about 1cc every 5 hours., and I cut it down yesterday to .5 cc every 3-4 hours., I woke up to check on him last night and he was unresponsive almost lifeless I soaked him in warm water dried him gave him homemade dehydration fluid and put a tiny drop of honey on his gums until he started to become responsive again., I got him in the clear and he was acting fine all up until about 2 hours ago., I went to feed him again at the 3 hour mark and he was unresponsive again., I did the same thing and once again have him awake and responsive. But what do I need to do to keep this from happening over and over again it’s stressing me out and can’t be good on baby. Help.! I thought I almost lost him the first time but this 2nd time I nearly didn’t get him back.

Update: once again he is still stable., I’m now feeding him a little bit of formula (Esbilac 3:1 ratio bc of diarrhea) about .3cc every 2 hours., and checking on him every 30 mins., I coat the tip of the syringe in honey as well. Any advice would be helpful. I don’t want him to do it again. He is gaining weight to since I’ve had him and I’ve had him for a week. I’ve had 2 other flyers I have raised and have never had a problem like this. I’m concerned about trying to control the diarrhea but not having him go hypoglycemic again. And Correction on the first thread., Rehydration fluids not dehydration I mixed 1 teaspoon of salt and 3 teaspoons of sugar to 1 quart of warm water.

Which esbilac are you using? How much does he weigh?

It should be 1 teaspoon salt, 3 TABLESPOONS of sugar. You don't have nearly enough sugar in it.
What does he weigh? The diluted esbilac just doesn't have much oomph for these little flyers - they need more fat and protein than the grays plus are so small.

He is 19 grams almost 20 now., and Esbilac puppy formula is what I’m feeding him with a couple of drops of plain yogurt in it. And I’ll have to make a new batch., that is what the squirrels-rehab.org stated to make the homemade rehydration formula.
