Hello! Today will be the last day giving my baby Baytril for her pneumonia. Feeding regularly and giving her some warm water with a tiny bit of honey in it for taste to keep her hydrated. She started getting her appetite back and was moving around more. I noticed yesterday she started to not move around as much but she eats about 3 or 4cc of formula. I listened for clicking and didn't hear anything except for her little heart beating. She was 83g before we started giving her the Baytril and now she is about 76g, even though she eats well. She is around 6 weeks old (opened her eyes a little over a week ago). I'm just wondering why she's losing this weight and why she's starting to act all sluggish again? She is kept in a quiet room with a heating pad on low underneath half of her little cage. please help!:sadness

Just to make double sure, it's this one correct?

Can you post a picture of her?
How often are you feeding her.
A weight loss is not good. :(

Edit: Do you stop her from taking more formula,
or is she quitting on her own?

Based on her weight, you can feed 3-5 mls every four hours during waking hours. If she is eating every four hours and seems hydrated, you can discontinue giving hydration. If you are giving sugar water and it's causing her to not eat as much formula because she's full, then she'll lose.

Did you give probiotics during the course of Baytril? How long did you give Baytril? What are her poops like?

Does she look like she's having trouble breathing? We don't want her to lose weight.

And to be sure, you're making the formula with 1 part powder to 2 parts water?

That is the esbilac we are using. We were feeding her every 4 hours, but now we are doing it every 3. She usually quits on her own but sometimes she'll look as if she fell asleep mid feeding. I noticed she had gotten a little smaller but would still eat well, so I wasn't sure what it could have been because. She's also peeing on herself, so when I go to feed her and she's wet, I'll usually wipe her down with a warm wash cloth 293923

I would give her probiotics two hours after giving her the abs. She was on Baytril for 7 days. She doesn't seem to be having trouble breathing, just super sleepy. And we had the formula at first with 1 part powder and 3 parts liquid but changed it to 1/2 about two days ago. Her poop is a little on the darker side rather than what it used to be (brown mustard color)

Is the poo darker like brown or darker like blood is in it?

If you just changed to full strength (1:2) formula two days ago, weight her again in the morning and let's see if she's going back up. I would also feed her late tonight and early in the morning, not more than 7 hour break. You can give hydration overnight, if you're worried.

Let's see what others suggest. I'm sorry she's feeling bad. :sniff

I'll be sure to do that. I usually will get up atleast twice at night and feed her. I'll weigh her in the morning and see how she is doing. Thank you!

Update! She's more lively now, her poop is the color it should be, although she is still peeing on herself so I have to wipe her down almost every time I feed her. Giving her a little bit of water in between feedings. She now greets me every time I go into the room! I'm going to weigh her in the morning again and see if she's put on some weight.
