I thought you always had to stimulate baby squirrels up to 5 weeks old ( maybe im mistaken) but this one is around 3 weeks and is peeing by himself, mostly during sleep. Is that out of the norm? Anyone have experience with a younger squirrel not needing stimulation. Thanks!

I stimulate them as long as possible.
It makes for a much cleaner cage, and
less fleece washing. :)

Mine would often "leak" pee during sleep and wet the fleece often at a young age of 4 weeks-5 weeks, so that I had to regularly change it, but since I honestly didn't know if they had fully peed, or were just leaking from an overly full bladder, I stimulated them at feeding time until they would not let me. It became obvious after a while when they had eyes open and just wouldn't stay around to put up with the "procedure", that is when I stopped. But I kept doing it right up until the point that they would not tolerate it.

I agree, and he may not be completely emptying so by stimulating him you are sure he's getting it all out. I notice stimulating pee is also when mine bear down to poop, so I think it's more beneficial than just getting pee. Plus, it's a bonding activity that only Mom does. Touch and grooming are very important for healthy baby.
