Sadly I came across 3 very very wet squirrels the day before yesterday. After numerous attempts to locate, I do not think the mother made it through the storm. I haven't seen any squirrel in the tree they came from let alone the potential mother.

Anyhow. They seem to be about 5-7? weeks old. After two days of being bundled together to keep warm, they are coming around wonderfully! Their eyes are open fully. They can move around okay.

I did not have power nor internet access until late last night. But for now I have made a homemade pedialyte of sorts, (from another squirrel page) to start getting them hydrated. It's a small amount of salt, sugar and purified drinking water. ((Not distilled))

Anyhow I am on the way to the store to get a dropper to help the two drink who don't seem too keen on drinking from a small bowl of sorts. Now here comes the most important parts.

What do I get for them for food? A friend gave the good idea of ground meal worms as Squirrels eat bugs and would be an excellent source of protein. ANd some sort of milk that would be close to a squirrels?

Thanks.

The first post in this thread shows the correct formula that can be purchased at most pet stores. https://thesquirrelboard.com/forums/showthread.php?20629-THE-ESBILAC-ISSUE

At that age they should still be on formula. For solid foods they will need a good quality rodent block to start off with. Also, you will need to feed them with a small syringe, not a dropper or bottle. Here is a link with a lot of helpful information. https://www.henryspets.com/baby-squirrel-care/

I'm sure more experienced people will come along soon to answer any other questions.:grin2

Right now they need to be fed baby formula based on their weight. Do you have or can you get a kitchen scale and weigh them in grams? Once you have their weight multiply it by 0.05 to 0.07 and the product is what you feed in ml's 4 x a day. (5%-7%of baby's weight in grams)

For instance a 100g baby. 100 x 0.05 = 5 ml.....100 x .07 = 7 ml. So baby will get 5-7 ml of formula four times a day.

You can order Fox Valley 20/50 online and get it next day on Amazon. You can buy puppy Esbilac (white dog on front) powdered formula with Pre and probiotics on the label at the very top at petstores.

You can ask a pharmacist for a couple of syringes but say they are for orphaned kittens, not squirrels. Don't feed with a kitten bottle from the pet store. Unreliable and easily aspirated.

Get started there and get back with us. Thanks for helping them!
