My dog found Lola on August 20th after a bad storm. We were outside and she kept barking to get my attention. I came to where she was barking and there she was. I left her over night thinking her mom would come get her. The next morning she was still there and now crying, so I took her in.

Now 3 weeks later all was going well. She was happy and healthy. After feeding her around 5 pm yesterday either I left her cage open because I'm not used to having to close it (she just opened her eyes a few days ago and became more mobile), someone else opened her cage, or she escaped. The cage is in the bathroom on the counter about a meter high. The floor is tile and she's about 5 weeks old.

My dog has shown interest in her but over all is calm and seemed to have a good understanding that she was not food. She has also never harmed any other person or animal no matter how small and she's 6 now. After all the point of the back story is that my dog is the one that found her and she did no harm to her then. I can't figure out what happened or how to possibly help her if she is in the house somewhere. I was thinking someone who knows squirrel personalities or reactions well might be able to help. I thought for sure not long after I noticed she wasn't in her cage I would find her or hear her somewhere. It's been about a day and a half later and I haven't heard or seen any evidence of her ANYWHERE! My dog isn't acting guilty, there is no fuzz or furr in her poop, and she normally has a very sensitive stomach if her diet strays from her dog food at all and there are no signs that she did anything to her. I've read posts and guides to catching a lost pet in the house but I think she's too young for most to apply. She is still on formula so she doesn't have any favorite treats i can lure her in with. How long is it before I should hear her cry? Im really worried now that I haven't heard anything and have searched EVERYWHERE.

And worst case scenario how long before I should assume the worst? I was concerned that maybe the fall from the counter to the tile hurt her and she might have curled up somewhere but I have searched everywhere anywhere relatively close to that area. And she also survived her fall from her nest so idk if that would have been a problem.

If anyone has any form of advice or any insight please please comment

No she didn't she seems confused by it. Normally she always wants to know where she is so I do think it's weird she isn't trying to find her. However she's a really good dog and if she does anything bad she's extremely embarassed or scared and she hasn't been that way at all. Maybe she doesn't know what she did was bad? Hopefully that isn't what happened.

I've gone thru the whole closet, attached to the bathroom she was in, and the room attached to it. She just started climbing around and walking without being wobbly - I'm not sure what her reach would be. I still check everything I can think of or see but I can't imagine her getting very far. She did have a couple of hours before we were home to realize she wasn't there.

Retrace your steps. Get really literal about it and be the squirrel. Doggie may have mouthed her, picked her up and moved her somewhere else. Look where he keeps his toys, pick up and open every single fabric that could hide a baby, check warmer places as she may have been drawn to them (fridge/stove), move food by foot. At this point she probably isn't moving much especially if she's cold and hungry so you'll have to hunt. Check places you think would be unlikely. And I agree, get the feeding stuff out and pretend like you're gonna feed and ask the dog for help finding her.

Aww man, good luck. I don't think I'd be able to sleep and would probably tear the house down looking for her.

Thank you I haven't checked under the fridge. Doing that now!! I'm sure she is xold and hungry as much as I don't want her to suffer I really was hoping for a cry by now to help find her!

Thank you. Yes I'm having a very hard time ):
