PLEASE HELP!!! LIFE OR DEATH SITUATION!!!

I rescued a baby two weeks ago. His eyes opened the week I rescued him so he is either 6 or 7 weeks old now. I'm really new to this and I will take any advice I can get. He aspirated last week but I hadn't heard any clicking until tonight. I am very worrried that he may have pneumonia. The clicking isn't very loud and he doesn't do it all the time with every breath but I know it could be potentially detrimental. I can order baytril but I have bactrim at home. Also, we are having issues with diarrhea and which is causing him to suffer from hypoglycemia I think. He would be fine for a couple hours and then arch his back and act lethargic until I gave him water with a little sugar in it. I came to the conclusion that he was having seizures due to hypoglycemia but he hasn't done that anymore. I am so sorry if I seem ignorant but the truth is that I really am. When he's ready, I'm releasing him back into the wild and I would take him to a rehabilitation center if I knew where one was. None of the vet clinics care here in Alabama about a little old squirrel but I care very much. Please tell me what I can do. Anyone.

I would contact a local rehabber near you that has experience with squirrels to see if they can let you buy some Baytril off of them as it sounds like this little guy needs it now and not later. It might be best to give him to a rehabber that has more experience who can offer him a better chance at survival. Poor baby. I know you care and its wonderful you have attempted to save him but he may need more than you can provide.

He is eating some soft carrots that I smashed up for him. No clicking right now. Very energetic, probably the sugar water.

Most rehabilitation centers or rehabber cant help you if you don't have a license. You will have to turn the baby over. Most vets won't treat them either.

Meds are dosed by weight not age . We can dose it for you but we need a picture to guesstimate weight or get a kitchen scale to weigh him. What are you feeding him? Bactrim can be given tonight. It is actually used to treat AP. It is not as good as Baytril. We need to know weight of baby , strength of Baytril and or Bactrim. We can help get this baby straightened out. Will need to know a ton of info in the morning. :Love_Icon
