The other day SP! jumped up to destroy yet another house plant... When she came down, the wooden plant stand somehow managed to skin her tail of hair... you can see it in the pic... Will this grow back? She is very self concious...

A squirl gurl's sure got to go to extremes to finally get her picture on TSB, huh? :D :D :D
Sorry -- poor baby!! :grouphug Squirrely Pop, you are just ADORABLE!!! :grouphug :Love_Icon Such a sweetheart! :Love_Icon :Love_Icon
Chad, I don't really know about the tail fur. But Buddy lost the fur on the end of his tail during one early encounter and it seems to me that it has more fur at the end than it used to. Especially since it doesn't look like the skin was injured, maybe there's hope for new fur. But anyway, she's gorgeous -- no need to be self-concious. :) :)

It should grow back, but not until the next time she sheds, poor baby. If the hair follicles were damaged, that fur might always look different. She's still a lovely girl though.:Love_Icon
Bitty went thru a phaze once where he developed bald spots on both his tummy, underarms, & the bottom of his tail. I used pure aloe-vera gel on the spots & the fur grew back just fine. No idea if he was just shedding or had a mite of some kind or what... erm & wasn't from a scape like your little one... but the skin wasn't damaged or red.. so most likely (from what it looks like on your pic) the fur should grow back just fine. Just an idea with the aloe-vera gel... was WAY before I found TSB & if there's something bad about using this for squirrels I hope someone will let me/us know. :Love_Icon

im pretty sure it should grow back , but will it grow back ? no one can say 100%. prolly will grow some hair back but always look different and depends on if any nerve endings in tail were bruised up or follicle damage. any open lacerations on her tail from this ???? bruising???
