I got this little boy the night before last. He has a rash beside his penis and a few other rash bumps elsewhere (belly, one by his anus and down his back legs). His penis was a little red and swollen when I got him. It had a little scab on it but he peed still, the scab came off but now every time he pees there is a creamy looking discharge that comes out with the pee and stays on the penis. Today his penis is worse. I'm wondering if another baby is sucking on it or if it's getting worse on its own.

What should be done to help this little baby?

Awww that looks painful...if he's with other squirrels I'm sure that's what's happening. It also sounds like it may be infected. Can you soak him in a warm (almost hot) salt water bath? You would have to have warm towels and blankets for him afterwards...so he doesn't catch a chill:great I think he may need antibiotics...seeing that he's a pinkie..I'm not sure what would be needed :dono you can also rub in some preparation H to help with the inflammation.

actually I see he's not a pinkie..so that's good...do you have any antibiotics on hand?

I would put him on Clavamox if you have it. He definitely needs antibiotic ointment on his penis. Please do not keep him in with the other babies if that is where this happened. Not being able to pee is life threatening.

He is able to pee. He has been able to pee. It was already swollen when I got him, but not this bad.

Today it isn't as bad as yesterday.

That's good to hear :great are you still seeing the creamy color drainage? If so, you should try and get your hands on some clavamox...as redwuff suggested. It is a pretty common AB for humans....all you need is one pill. I would call around and ask friends and family if they have one left....it can even be expired....someone here can explain the dosing in a pm :great even if he's not infected now...it would be good to have one on hand for emergencies.

BTW, for humans, it is called Augmentin, not Clavamox, though they are exactly the same drug.

No discharge today. He just has a new scab today. He keeps getting fresh bumps from the rash that he didn't have before. One on his front finger now.
He is now separated from the other babies.

Awaiting Abyss make sure to remove the scab...I know it's probably painful...but it is dangerous...it has to stay open. The warm salt bath would probably dislodge it with little discomfort :great thank you for working so diligently on this little baby :bowdown :Love_Icon
