question on dosing and use of Frontline Gold vs Frontline Plus

So bunchers is losing his hair again...he seems to have this happen in the summers only when it gets VERY hot out.
I have been treating it with Frontline Plus as when this first started a few years ago I came on here in a panic you guys said get the Frontline Plus for kittens and it worked great!!
I just ran out and Called my vet to get more..I guess they don't carry Plus anymore they are using Frontline Gold... and the weight is different on this one it just says for cats and kittens 8 weeks or older so I did 4 tiny drops and the hair is still falling out!!! normally using the Frontline Plus the hair would already be growing back!!
So what should I dose him with this now?or does the Gold not work like or as good as the plus?
Plus how far apart can I actually dose...I gave him the Gold at the end of july so it has only been a couple of weeks.....?

Is this an outside squirrel or an inside squirrel?

We use kitten Revolution now. You can get that at your vets office,

Get the one for puppies or kittens up to 5 lbs.

I already pickled up the Frontline Gold from my vet...I don't really have the money to go out and buy something different...the frontline Plus worked before in the past so I assume the Frontline Gold should work???
I know when I gave him the Frontline Plus before I believe I was told 3 or 4 drops and it worked.

We no longer recommend Frontline, so I'm not sure of the dosage. :dono
I know with Revolution it's ONE drop between the shoulder blades.
