Hi everyone.
My two are about 3 weeks old, and I'm thinking ahead for what they will need so I can place an order.

I am getting the Fox Valley 20/50 for when their eyes open.
And, I wanted to get rodent block. Which is the best for a grey squirrel? There are a few options on Henry's pets and I don't want to make the mistake i made with the FV 32/40!

Thanks,

Margaret

Go for the Hi-Protein blocks for babies then switch over to the Adult blocks later on. The best in my opinion!

Just be sure to stick them in the freezer

I would have suggested a different approach to the block. If your intent is to release these babies when they get old enough you can give Henrys blocks, just remember they are a supplemental block and you must provide lots of healthy veggies and limited fruits for them.

If you are thinking about long term care I would suggest the Harlan Teklad 18 block. It can be free fed as much as they want. You still should offer healthy veggies but the block will make up 80% of their diet. It is very economical at 5lbs for about $20 and can be purchased online.

I have had amazing results adding Harlan block to my dwarf squirrels diet. His fur is regrowing and his coat is shiny and dense. I'm just sharing what my experience has been. Others may have a different opinion.

I completely agree with Mel. I would start with a good quality block, like Harlan Teklan 18 and offer only that block until you know that they are solidily eating that block. If these are rehab squirrels I would feed Mazuri 6F also called Breeders block. It is 50lbs for $28 and can be ordered or purchased at a farm and tractor store. Remember Henry's are only meant to be fed as supplements. They do not offer near enough daily calories. You must add veggies, some fruit and occasionally a few nuts to supply enough daily calories.

Be sure to offer only block for the first few weeks to allow your babies to develop a taste for the block. If you offer other foods first they most likely will never touch the block. You can put block in with the babies when their eyes open even before they are weaned. They will begin to nom on it while still on formula.

Good of luck with your babies. :Love_Icon:Love_Icon

I've had good success with the Mazuri 6F as well. Just make sure they are eating them well before you offer the veg and Henry's.
