One of 'our' wild squirrels has an injured rear leg, he gets around alright, enough to evade predators, but he completely lifts it and hold ot there. There isn't a visible break nor wound, but he's been like this for a couple of days at least. He's chattering a lot at other squirrels that come close to him. I could potentially catch him and take him to a local rehabber, but is that the wisest course of action, given the stress. Judging by his appearance, I'd say he's 2-3 years old.

Can you post some pictures, or better yet a link to a video?

If this is a true wild squirrel versus a release, capturing him will be extremely stressful... much more than a release squirrel. Capturing a wild is really a last resort but sometimes it is their only hope.

Have you seen any improvement or has he gotten worse over the past few days?

Good news! The little fella is doing much better now, and he's walking on it again, with a pretty good limp, but using it. He's still real cranky with the other squirrels and chatters a lot, but looking more like his normal self. So I think any action on my part wont be required except for some avacado snacks.

Thanks for the advice.

I'm sure he will appreciate the extra treats you give him. It will hep him to heal faster if he does not have to forage as much on his injured leg.:great
