Hu Nancy in Oregon. I have a about a 2-3 week old squirrel which I brought into my home after finding he had a very tall tree. I live on a mountain. I am struggling with his food. Not being versed with any squirrel care I went on line and found numerous opinions and advice. Being action was needed immediately I quickly made him a formula for dehydration which appeared to work well. I then began feeding him per the advice I found which was a mixture of while milk/heavy cream and a droop of coconut oil. This also worked well. He appeared to eat happily and was eliminating little pellets. Well, as I read on I found that I was "supposed" to be feeding him puppy formula so I went and got that and introduced it. Well now he has very loose bowels. I stopped went back to the rehydrate and then restated the formula diluted, but still no pellets still yellow liquid elimination. What do I do now, I am afraid I am losing him as I can't get this turned around.

Whole Milk is deadly to most baby wildlife, the loose bowels are probably from the cows milk and it took a few days to show up.

Yes you need to feed him Esbilac, but it has to be the powdered version, mixed 2 to 1. 2 parts water to 1 part powdered formula. Do you have nipples and syringes? We get ours from www.squirrelsandmore.com the Miracle Nipples, as well as 3cc, 5cc syringes.

Are you going to rehab this baby yourself or would you like to find a rehabber? Where in Oregon are you?
