View Full Version : Possible UTI for Skiddil

Hi folks! Skiddil's mom here. Overall my little princess has been doing great, but I think now I am dealing with something that is not going to fix itself on its own. I believe Skiddil is experiencing the "joys" of a UTI. Poor baby girl. :sniff Symptoms: Her urine has more of an orange tinge to it (it doesn't look pinkish like I would expect with blood though). She seems to have difficulty sometimes with urinating, and she is doing so in places she normally wouldn't, like on her hammock-bed. Her urine has a strong and strange odor to it...it reminds me very much of the smell of millipedes (That may sound weird that I even know what a millipede smells like, but they have a very distinct strong odor when you disturb or crush them.) And lastly, externally she looks like she is in season, swollen, but I really don't think she is. I need to decide if this is something I can deal with on my own, or if I need to try to take her to my vet, which would be difficult and stressful in itself. Not to mention the legality of it all. I have some 62.5mg clavamox left over from another critter, but the expiration dates are 6/14 (14 tabs) and 2/15 (2 tabs). Would the clavamox even be good here, or do I need to try to get my hands on some fresh SMZ/TMP? I have seen mention of that one being used for a UTI. Thoughts? Thank you in advance!

Yes, the Clavamox would be good. Don't throw those expired pills away. Clavamox is a bit more challenging to acquire. :tilt
We would need a weight on Skiddil.

Ok, I'll hang on to the Clavamox. I figure old Clavamox is better than no Clavamox anyway! Skiddil is towards her lighter self these days without her winter "fluff". She is about 450g right now....not a very big girl. Does a UTI sound like a decent assessment based on symptoms? Or should I be considering anything else? Thanks again for any help. I appreciate it very much. :great
