View Full Version : Need Help With Trimming Red/Pine Squirrel Teeth
Hello all. I have a 7 year old Pine / Red squirrel whose bottom teeth have started to overgrow terribly. He's always had perfect teeth.
Does anyone have pictures of where to start clipping his teeth, they're almost touching his top teeth. I don't know how this happened so fast without me noticing. If anyone has pictures showing the area of where to start and how to do it, I would desperately be very grateful.
Thank you so much!
Gigi

A member once posted a photo of a squirrel with a line where to trim the teeth.
I can't recall who, and I can't find the photo.
I really wished that members with experience would weigh in on this one.
I've only clipped a little reds teeth when he was tiny, so I'm not much help. :(

I wonder if the lady at Lowell would help Gigi or recommend someone that could. It's just up the road from her. :dono
Maybe MadameLipstick could make an inquiry. I believe she is a supporter. She was very kind to her. Don't know.

They released Fenwick and Luddy for her. She LOVED the place and spoke very highly of the owner.

She took her boys to the Lowell Farm & Wildlife Center. The same place that I took the two baby Possies this Spring.

Gigi, I wouldn't take my boy there without contacting her first. All of the contacts that we are aware of regarding Lowell Wildlife have been positive ones BUT she is not a member of this board. I'm sure you are aware of the laws regarding wildlife. Out of an abundance of caution I would thoroughly check things out and make certain that there isn't a 'problem' as far as having a 'pet' squirrel.
When you are dealing with licensed rehabbers and rehab centers there is a wide spectrum of practice when it comes to the public possessing wildlife. On one end of the spectrum are those that love animals and want to help them no matter what but on the other end are those that take on the role of 'wildlife police' and take to heart enforcing the laws.
As stated, I believe this place is good BUT please make certain before you make any decisions. If she can't help you directly she might be able to offer suggestions as I'm sure she would have many contacts in the area.

Thank you so much for your advice. I whole heartedly agree about making sure it's a safe place to help me. I will post with any updates as soon as I have them. Big hugs and much gratitude to you and everyone else who has offered advice.
