Should anyone desire to use this source, be sure you use very little as it is concentrated, and higher in oxalates.

Add 1/8 Tsp. of the Aronia juice to 1/4 cup of filtered water and add 1/2 Tsp. of Organic cocowater, as this is a naturally good source of electrolytles.

Amazon.com carries the Superberry Aronia juice.

Naked brand Organic Cocowater would be what I recommend using for this purpose.

It is assumed that other than direct contact, this insects ae responsible for the transmission of this disease from squirrel to squirrel in the wild.

Take care to regard the necessary precautions not to let mosquitos into your home, and to prevent flea infestations.

For skin iritation homeopathic Calendula (non alcholic spray):
https://www.amazon.com/Hylands-Calen...alendula+spray non stinging formula.

"Skin Ulcers: A controlled study showed that an oral dosage of Pycnogenol daily combined with topical application daily showed the fastest and most complete healing for the group using both oral and topical Pycnogenol. The group using oral Pycnogenol showed faster and more complete healing than the placebo group, but the group using both oral and topical Pycnogenol showed the fastest and most complete healing..."

Pycnogenol (PYC) is also noted to be a cancer preventative, as it is anti viral containing very high levels of powerful anti oxidants compounds.

If you want to try this, begin with (1 mg.) noted in the research.

PYC from capsule (1 mg.) by oral route, added to organic applesauce 1/8 th Tsp. , as this will help to cover the bitter taste and support the uptake of this source better.

Even more efficient is the liquid for this purpose with its ethanol base.

This is the liquid source:. http://organika.com/product/antioxidant/pycnogenol-liquid/

Use a mL syringe without the needle, not the dropper that comes with the bottle.

Pull up (0.1 ml) = (equal to) (1 mg) dose.

This source from the US made from White Birch Bark, all organic, non GMO, peaked my interest amongst similar sources offered online, as it is noted to be anti-viral and has been used for Chicken pox in particular. And that this source is noted to use organic vegetable glycerin for the base.

As to dosage unsure, but since it is less potent than pycnogenol 0.1 mg. should be ok to use.

This company makes a number of tinctures all organic and/or defacto organic wild sources.

I found list of trees toxic to rats included birch and beech; this is strange since tree squirrels are known to strip hte bark of the Paper Birch.

In anycase, to stay on the safer side, I would go with the Pine Pycnogenol, as pine is non toxic to rodents.

That is, dried pine is safer.

Pycnogenol, studied over 40 years, in 100 studies done, was found to improve various ill health conditions in rats.

The notes under Birch on this page shed light as to why some websites noted birch as safe, and some do not; for some are safe and some are not.

For those noted to be safe see notes under white, silver, etc. birch.

Abstract

The compositions of this invention may be used to prevent (propylaxis), treat (ameliorate symptoms, shorten duration of illness, lessen severity), or cure viral infections caused by Poxyiridae. Poxiviridae infections that may be treated by this invention include both vertebrate poxviruses (subfamily Chordopoxyirinae) and insect poxviruses (Entomopoxyirinae, e.g., Entomopoxyirinae A, B, and C). Vertebrate poxviruses include without limitation those members of the genera: Orthopoxvirus (e.g., camelpox, cowpox, ectromelia, monkeypox, racconpox, skunkpox, taterapox, Uasin Gishu, vaccinia, variola (small pox), and volepox), Parapoxvirus (Auzduk disease, chamois, contagious eethyma, orf, pseudocoxpox, parapox of deer, and sealpox); Avipoxvirus (e.g., canarypox, fowlpox, juncopox, pigeonpox, psittacinepox, quailpox, peacockpox, sparrowpox, peguinpox, starlingpox and turkeypox), Capripoxvirus (e.g., goatpox, lumpy skin disease, and sheeppox), Leporipoxvirus (e.g., Hare fibroma, myxoma, rabbit fibroma, squirrel fibroma), Suipoxvirus (e.g., swinepox), and Molluscipoxvirus (e.g., Molluscum contagiosum).

In reading about pox viruses like Herpes Zoster, it is noted that Lysine inhibits Pox viruses, while Arginine fuels them.

Protein foods contain varying amounts of amino acids, two of which are lysine and arginine. The herpes virus is able to use the amino acid arginine to reproduce in the nucleus of your cells. Its ability to replicate helps the virus successfully infect your body during an outbreak. The amino acid lysine exerts antiviral effects by blocking the activity of arginine, which helps suppress the virus's ability to replicate. Because of this, some people eat foods with a high ratio of lysine to arginine at the first sign of an outbreak.

https://www.livestrong.com/article/280245-shingles-and-lysinearginine-foods/

Those sources higher in ratio of the amino acid Arginine to the amino acid Lysine, that fuel the pox virus, include: nuts, seeds, and berries.

Those sources that are higher in ratio of Lysine to arginine that suppress the pox virus include: yogurt, and organic whey protein concentrate.

Further explaination of the roles that these amino acids (Lysine and Arginine) respectively play in the inhibition or replication of pox viruses, with research references.

https://www.bioceuticals.com.au/education/article/arginine-and-its-effects-on-viral-replication

Though it is evident that dairy products contain arginine also, that they are considerably higher in Lysine is what lends to the suppression of arginine and in turn the inhibition of pox viruses, not just those sources that don't contain arginine at all.

Dr. Herold and her colleagues had previously shown that infection by the herpes viruses depends on calcium released within the cells.

To address Parapox virus on the cellular level, Calcium 2 AEP offers support to block the virus from entering cells:

Calcium 2-AEP (2-amino-ethyl-phosphate): is a lipid delivery system. It delivers the mineral to the outer layer of the cell membrane, creating a sealing effect..a cellular patch. It is also known as the membrane integrity factor since it binds and acts as a sealant...preventing the entry of viruses and toxins into the cell.

AEP is the therapeutic workhorse in this compound. It transports minerals such as calcium, magnesium and potassium to positions along cell membranes, which serve to protect the cells from harm while allowing nutrients and biochemicals to enter. Based on these actions, Nieper calls calcium AEP ‘membrane integrity factor’, or vitamin Mi, for short.

Eliminating specific food sources during treatment that are higher in Arginine to Leucine ratio, that include: (nuts and seeds, and blackberries, and blueberries, and tomatoes), and including other sources that are higher in Leucine to Arginine in ratio, that inhbits virus growth, will also lower phosphorus in the diet. By including Calcium 2-AEP, that has an inverted ratio of 1.5 (P:Ca) better than that of nuts, it can lend key support in maintaining a healthly Ca:P ratio in the diet.

* Notes:

* Adding a calculated measure of Calcium 2-AEP can lend better support for bone density in juveniles diets, approx. (1.5:1) Ca:P; and in the adults (2:1) to (3:1) Ca:P.

* in a number of related studies, the bones of juveniles and adults were found to vary in Ca:P ratio with juveniels having a closer ratio than the adults. This is explained by the bones of juveniles requiring a closer ratio of Ca:P to support bone growth, vs. adults that have reached full bone length and development months after they reach sexual maturity, as the adult level of sex hormones are needed to support them reaching full adult bone density.

https://www.diagnose-me.com/treatment/calcium-2AEP.php

https://www.marsvenus.com/blog/john-gray/2-aep-helps-balance-blood-sugar-levels

2-AEP has also been shown to help maintain healthy blood sugar levels for people who are already within normal range. When you consume too much sugar, it raises the glucose levels in the red blood cells moving through your vessel and capillary systems. These high blood sugar levels can cause the small vessels to break down and rot, which creates big health problems for you.

Self edit in Notes:

* This is explained by the bones of juveniles requiring a closer ratio of (Ca:P) in their diets to achieve full skeletal development; vs. the adults requiring a slightly higher (Ca:P) ratio, which better supports them to reach full adult bone density some months after reaching full sexual maturity when the level of their sex hormones, that play a key role in this being achieved some months, is supplied.

Croton lechleri, known as sangre de drago (dragon's blood), is used as a "liquid bandage", as well as for other medicinal purposes, by native peoples.

Apparently it is alkaloid, no expert on the source. There is much to learn about the sap source before considering using it to treat skin conditions including parapox. It is included in a list of, 'inventions', potential application of its use, one of which was found to counter parapox. Please proceed with care.

IMPORTANT: The, 'generic name, "Dragon's Blood" refers to more than one plant source. The source is a cinnabar iss a highly toxic source to humans, livestock, is not the croton plant that is referenced here.

On another note, Pycnogenol, a polyphenol edible source that is the extract of the cambium layer of pinaster pine grown organically, has been studies over 50 years in over 100 studies many of which have been in laboratory rodents. It has many properties, one of which is that it is anti viral, anti inflammatory, and has been found to increase healing in skin lesions, it also can be applied externally. It would be prudent to consider using a cone when using an external preparation of PYC for Parapox.

Sad to report there is a new geno of squirrel pox that has been confirmed in Red squirrels in Germany.

Abstract
Near Berlin, Germany, several juvenile red squirrels (Sciurus vulgaris) were found with moist, crusty skin lesions. Histology, electron microscopy, and cell culture isolation revealed an orthopoxvirus-like infection. Subsequent PCR and genome analysis identified a new poxvirus (Berlin squirrelpox virus) that could not be assigned to any known poxvirus genera.

Although no sequence information is available for the SQPV from Spain, the partial sequence analysis of SQPV from Canada showed the virus to also be distinct from all known mammalian poxviruses but most closely related to PPV, followed by UK SQPV
