Just caught an adult squirrel dragging its back legs. I was concerned one of my 3 dogs would get a hold of it. It is safely contained now. Fairly robust condition, seems like a recent injury. Does anyone know of a local rehabber that would take it? I am recovering from surgery and not able to.

Bump...Someone please respond with a solution to help this little guy. In the meantime, take care of him and keep him calm. Maybe some meds for the pain and swelling.

Im not a pro, but I've saved a paralysed Gray before. Check for injury, especially on the back. CLEAN the injury thoughoughly if they are there (I prefer hibiclens followed by Betadine, is alcohol if nothing else. Clean with soap and water first).

If you have antibiotics, and found injuries, start them IMMEDIATELY. If you have steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, start them asap. If not, prepare a non steroidal like ibuprofen. If you need help with preparing from children's Motrin, pm me and I will help.

Oh, and of course try to move the back as little as possible... much easier said than done with squirrels..

It it proba my a good idea to give calcium emergency protocol just in case. It can't hurt.

I've sent out pm's to two members who are licensed rehabbers in Indiana.
Good idea about the infant ibuprofen. :thumbsup
Going out for the day shortly, so anyone with suggestions,
please help this little one.

If we are going to dose any meds, we will need a photo to guesstimate the weight.

Here's a list of wildlife rehabbers in Indiana.
There are several listed for your county of Hamilton.
I have no idea if they are good, or if they will quickly euthanize,
which is always a concern.

Thank you for helping this little one.
