I really wanted to continue the thread from yesterday, but I don't know how to find it. I have looked and looked in all the forums. Anyway I was advised to remove all nuts from my flyer's diet and to dose with large amounts of Calcium to treat MBD. I was advised to use Tums. I have been using Henry's Calcium Carbonate powder for over a year. Perhaps I have not used a large enough amount or often enough. Should I use the Tums in preference to Henry's or continue with Henry's? If the latter, how much and how often? On the package it says 1/8 tsp has 165 mg of elemental Calcium. The only disadvantage of Tums is that they are flavored, and mixes with the peanut butter or fruit.

Hi Kaydeedid....ur other post is in the first section "Welcome to the Squirrel Board- Introduce Yourself". If you type your user name in the search box at the top it will pull up your posts. Or if you click on your user name in a post, a box comes up that says something like view forum posts. I have flyers too, but not sure on which calcium is better, so hopefully a more experienced person will answer. Ive not had to deal with mbd in flyers. I do use the henrys calcium though to dust mealworms & sprinkle on veggies. My guys eat blocks, formula, yogurt & leafy greens so they get plenty of calcium. Good luck with ur baby!

Here is a link to your previous thread. It's was in the Introduction Section. This is probably a better place for it. This is in the Non-Life Threatening Help Needed in case you need to find it later.

No, if you have the Henry's calcium carbonate you don't need the Tums. I went back and read your first post. You indicated that you give a tiny bit of calcium carbonate. Do you have an idea how much? With all those nuts, I would guess that the calcium that you have given has prevented Lucky from having full blown MBD.

Yes, I see the dosage on the calcium carbonate package is 1/4 teaspoon is 165mg of elemental calcium. I assume Lucky isn't having seizures, right? Why don't you do a modified MBD treatment. Give Lucky the 165mg of calcium per day for a week and see if you notice a change in behavior. Mix the 1/8 teaspoon with a little peanut butter as per the protocol and then split it into 4-5 balls to feed thoughtful the day.

Your biggest issue is the diet. Eliminate the nuts and supplement with calcium for a while. Changing the diet is essential. Try the Henry's picky eater blocks and veggies.
The live meal worms are better than the dried one. Flyers really love WaxWorms.
