So, Joey had surgery on his toe a month or so ago, healed up nicely but doesn't have use of the one toe on his back right foot because part of the bone was amputated so it doesn't bend. Get him outside a while ago to get ready for release and what does he flipping do? He injures another toe, right next the the one he had surgery on! My gawd, my daughter and I joked after the first one, "Just watch, he's going to do something else to stay longer" NO MORE JOKING ugh! His vet is out of town until the 19th of this month, I'm going to call another place that is taking over emergencies for them and see if they see wild life. Attached is the toe photos... this really is a bummer. I am having a RC built this weekend. It will be 7' high, 7' long and 4' deep, that should give the fuzzbutt enough room and get him out of his large cage. Questions that I do have, does anyone see bone? and IF this toe turns out like the first and he can't use it, does this make him non release? That would be 2 useless toes on the same foot. Joey would have a life with me if that were the case so no worries there.

I called the other vet, he is out of town til tomorrow afternoon. The receptionist took down my info and she will ask him if he will see Joey anyway. Crossing my fingers XX

Poor little Joey, seems like he can't catch a break.:( Hope the vet will agree to see him today.:Love_Icon I would give the little guy some infant ibprophen for pain. We can dose it for you if you can get a weight on him. I'm not sure that loosing two toes would necessarily make him non releasable.. I guess you'd just have to see how he does if he indeed looses another toe - hopefully that will not be the case.

Thanks lennysmom, he is approx 650 grams in weight. I do have the dosing info from the last go around. If I can't get him into this vet I'll have no choice but to wait until Joey's vet is back from the looks of it. Not many wild life vets around here than I could find. I'll probably put him on abs to keep infection down if it looks like it doesn't want to heal.

Update: I got Joey in to a small wild life center in my area to take a look at his toe, it will be alright thankfully. The white spot on it is not bone. It was a small pocket of infection and his toe is bruised. With a little time it will heal up. He'll be on abs for a week, metacam for 5 days. Annnnd while I was there, a baby skunk decided to be a little stinker UGH! Clothes immediately to the wash!
