Can squirrels take the antibiotic Orbax (orbifloxacin)? One of my cats has a "raging" uti (as the vet tech put it) and they gave me Orbax for her for 14 days. Ive not heard of it. But wondering if it can be used on squirrels just in case for future reference. They said i may need a second bottle, so im thinking i will have leftover. Its a liquid suspension. Im thinking if squirrels can take it, it could come in handy down the road.

I have heard of a vet using it... It is pretty closely related to the Baytril (animal version) and Cipro (human version) used so commonly in UTIs. They are all flurorquinolones.
I have no idea how to dose it though.

Yes it can be used for squirrels. It is a gut ripper though.

Ok, good to know. Maybe as a last resort then. I have access to cipro if need be. Not needing it now, just inquiring for future. I find the more i hang out with squirrels, the more i think of what i have, how i can use it (or squirrel it away :grin2) & what can things come in handy for!! And the real bad part....i look at sticks now....everywhere i go. Really hard to pass up a good stick!!! :gigg
Hoping it doesnt tear my cats guts up...a messy litterbox is no fun! :eek:yuck
