Hello I've been out east on a hunting trip and got home to my dad showing me babies in the backyard. Not sure if the mother is around. There are 5 bunnies, eyes are still closed, estimated maybe 3-5 days old but not sure. Tonight I will set up a little trip wire to see if the mother comes back at night to feed them, but if worse comes to worse how should I care for them? Should I give them any sort of milk or Pedialyte as you would with a squirrel? I will not do a thing until I get the info I need. Is there anyone in the greater Toronto area of Ontario experienced enough to care for them if the mother does not return? Thanks.

They were discovered 2 nights ago by my dad, he doesn't know a thing about them so he just left them and waited for me. I met them yesterday at about 6:30 pm, waited for night time and kept my eye open for mother who was a no show as far as I know.. I could've missed her though. Woke up at 4:30 am and no sign of mother so I put them in a box with a blanket to keep their body temperature up.. other then that I haven't done anything.

Do they have any hair? Eyes open/closed? They will also need heat by putting a heating pad on low under half of the container.
Baby bunnies are tough. Is there a wildlife rehabiltator that could take them?
Be back on in a little while

Yes there is fur, tiny stubby tails, eyes are closed. unfortubately I do not have a heat pad to lend them. They are tucked in a blanket, I'd assume they're body heat will help eachother out as well, at least it's not just one bunny! There are sanctuaries around and i have left a message at the closest one, they deal mostly with birds though so we'll see what they say or if they can direct me to a more suitable place.
In the meantime I just want to make sure they stay comfy and well hydrated, but need more tips before I attempt anything.

Update: spoke to a lady at an animal sanctuary, she said no trip wires or cameras, she said instead to put cooking flour around the nest site. Make a little ring around them, and if the mother steps through the flour I'll know about it the next morning. If the mother does not come back I can have them delivered to a rural sanctuary. Any additional tips will be appreciated! Thanks.

Mama came back! I fixed the ring to make sure she keeps coming back.. and they are currently getting rained on so I hope they're ok out in the open like this..

I should also note that all of their eyes are opening, so I guess they're at least a week old

UH OH. The mother killed one of the babies this morning. I saw the mother under my deck in the morning, went outside to check on the babies and 1 was missing, I found it away from the nest under the deck where the mother was sitting. It had be bitten through the neck. I'm not sure if it's because of my intervention or if it was just too sick to stay with the others (it is pissing rain right now). I don't know. But I hope the others don't meet the same fate.
