Last night I went to feed the babies and found little Squeaky in the corner, and she was vomiting. It looked like curdled formula (she had been feed 4 hours prior). A little back story. I was told her tree was cut down, two babies killed, two survived. Person that had them said sibling died about a week or so ago. The person I got them from had had her a week (she got them from the original finder, who supposedly got her when her eyes were open and had her for 2 weeks.) Now an eyes open baby who was found 3 weeks ago, that would bring her in the 8 week age, give or take. She has the tail of a 7+ week old. But here is the kicker, original finder said after a week she stopped wanting formula (they were using a bottle, no idea what kind of formula it was). So she had been feeding her grapes and other fruit. Person that I got her from tried formula (again with a bottle) but no go, so she fed fruits and avocado. When I got her, she looked good. I got her in, got her settled (she had been kept 'in the bathroom' not in a cage of any kind and loved everyone...per person that had her). She was growly but that subsided after a short time. I offered formula, and although at first she fought, once she actually tasted it, she nearly ripped the syringe from my hand. She took 12 cc's and wanted more, but did not give more. Her belly was not big at all and she seemed very happy. She had one more feeding that night and slept all night. Yesterday, I fed everyone and then put her in with my 3 older crew (who are in the 7+ to 8+ week range). They were quite curious and they all groomed her. All seemed well. Next feeding found her not sleeping with them, but was not overly concerned. Feed everyone again (I am feeding them approx. every 4-4.5 hours). Every feeding she got 12 cc's (and before you ask her weight, my scale stopped working and they did not have any at Walmart where I usually get them so have to try to find another one), but I am usually pretty good with weight guessing. She ate her food and then they all snuggled together. Yesterday afternoon they were playing pretty rough with her after their 'dinner' feeding and I began to question if this was a good match. They were not attacking her, but they play rough. I fed them all again. Last night when I went in to give them their last feeding, I found her hunched up in the corner. When I pulled her out, I realized she was vomiting. It was white and thick. I cleared her mouth. I tried giving fluids, although was fearful of her aspirating. I stayed with her for hours. She would calm, fall to sleep, then suddenly wake up in a panic and vomit again. Finally around 12:30 or so, drop by drop, I got some fluids in her. She seemed to hold that down. I held her wrapped in a blanket for some time and then put her in a cage by herself on heat. About 3 hours later, she woke my climbing around the cage. I offered more fluids, this time she happily accepted. She took about 5 cc's of fluids, then curled up in my hand and fell asleep. This morning around 7 I woke her and she took another 6 cc's of fluids and then wanted to go back to sleep. I have not seen her vomit any more. But am at a loss on what caused it. I spoke to Gayle last night, and overfeeding was discussed. Now, I have had a couple of squirrels vomit right after feeding, but never 4+ hours later. I wondered if somehow they hurt her but aside from the vomiting, seemed ok although did get pretty weak after doing it. She had more energy this morning. She has not had access her to anything, but cannot speak to before she came her, as she was kept in the tub! So going forward, do I continue fluids for a few more feedings? She is thin, you can feel her ribs when you hold her. Her lack of having formula for 2 weeks before coming here and having 'solids' so young, I know is not a good thing. I need to do the best I can for her and just would love some others opinions on this. Please pray for her, I am still very concerned. Her belly was never distended, or hard. She did pee when I pottied her last night, but have not seen poop. Since she was older, I had not pottied her, as generally by that age, I usually do not. She is so sweet and it it breaking my heart seeing her go through this.
